Hanson Ranch Wetland Update: August 2025
September 2025: Construction Update
The Wetland Project began construction late August 2025 and will continue into mid-September.
Construction Impacts
Residents will notice an increase in noise.
Residents will notice heavy truck traffic in the area.
Construction hours for this project are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The contractor will take steps to limit the amount of dust in the work area.
The City does not expect vibration impacts from construction to affect private properties.
The pathway between the wetland and West Nose Creek will be closed from the end of August to spring 2027. Detour signage will be in place on site and on the project webpage.
Lane alterations will take place throughout the project, but we will be maintaining two-way traffic on Hidden Creek Drive at all times.
Tree removal
Crews will be removing the trees on the berm, which is the pathway between West Nose Creek and the constructed wetland. To uphold the area’s tree canopy, they will be planting new trees on both the West edge and southeast corner.
Community impacts and keeping you informed
The attached Construction Notice will be delivered this week to area residents and businesses. Residents will continue to be kept informed during construction through additional mailed construction notices and through our project website.

The Hanson Ranch Wetland Improvements project team has hired a contractor and are preparing for construction, which is expected to begin late August.
An aerial map of the project area.
This also means that they are now preparing to hold the third phase of their Engagement initiative, where they will show renderings of public realm design features and ask the public what they think of it. This phase of engagement will run August 15-29.
Engagement Phase 3 pop up event
As with the other phases of Engagement, the City will be holding an event where they’ll show the renderings along with information to prepare residents for construction which will include timelines, impacts, mitigations, expected lane/pathway closures and what you can expect to see as the project develops.
Date: August 17th
Time: 2-4PM
Location: Holy Trinity Church
Area residents will see bold signs in the community, and updates will be sent to the Hidden Valley and Panorama Hills Community Associations via email, in addition to mailed postcards.
The Calgary.ca/HansonRanchWetland webpage will be updated with dates and times for the pop-up session as well.
Temporary removal of traffic calming measures
To support the construction of the Hanson Ranch Wetland Improvements project, The City of Calgary will be temporarily removing traffic calming measures along Hidden Creek Drive NW, between Hidden Creek Place NW and Hidden Creek Boulevard NW. This temporary change is necessary to ensure safe and efficient access for the contractor to the construction site and laydown areas.
Please note that this is a temporary removal. All traffic calming measures will be reinstalled upon completion of the wetland construction to maintain long-term safety improvements in the community.
Your understanding and cooperation during this important infrastructure upgrade are greatly appreciated.
