Effective September 1: Livingston Fixed Route Bus Service
Since its construction, Livingston has been reliant on the On-Demand transit service. Throughout my term as City Councillor, I have heard from many of you how needed a fixed route to the area is. Initial advocacy efforts led to the extension of Route #124, but I am happy to say that Calgary Transit will be introducing a new fixed route bus to service Livingston beginning September 1, 2025.
Route #137 will replace the current On-Demand service with a 30-minute frequency bus during peak hours and a shuttle bus during the off-peak hours of 6-9AM. Route #137 will run 7 days a week and connect to Route #301 at North Pointe Terminal.
FAQ
What is the schedule and route for the #137?
Route #137 will be available on the Calgary Transit site here mid-August.
When will a fixed-route service be provided to Carrington?
Fixed-route service in Carrington is currently not operationally feasible. Calgary Transit will continue to monitor the area, specifically the completion of Carrington Blvd. In the meantime, On Demand will still be available to residents and stops on the #124 Route will remain open.
Why are there servicing issues?
In 2023, Council approved the 30-Year transit plan, Route Ahead. This strategy prioritizes investment into the Primary Transit Network. Investment in Base Services, like replacing older fleet, is necessary to advance the strategy. Calgary has added new communities like Carrington and Livingston throughout the city, but does not yet have enough bus fleet and drivers to meet the needs of these developing communities. New routes are implemented when they are operationally viable and Calgary Transit can supply the bussing service on a permanent basis.
